Michael "Speedy" Gonzales, age 18, at OFY in Upland, Calif. I have been riding motorcycles and quads since I was 5 1/2 yrs old, and have been riding my Yamaha Rhino for the past 5 yrs. I have a lot of seat time behind my Rhino. I know how to read the dunes out at Glamis, and I know how to read my race courses and pick good lines when I am out desert riding. I entered my first race in 2009 at
the Lake Elsinore grand prix and took 3rd out of 14 racers in my class and placed 8th overall out of the other 24 modified UTV's. After that race I instantly knew I had the off-road race in my blood and wanted to further my racing career. My goal someday is to become a driver in the Baja 1000 as a First place trophy truck driver. Yes, I shoot for the top.
